This Amazon trick will get you another year of Prime at $119.

Amazon Prime’s price will shortly rise. During a recent earnings call, Amazon revealed that it would increase the price of its Prime membership from $119 to $139 per year. Subscriptions will also go up from $12.99 to $14.99 per month.

The Amazon pricing increases will begin on February 18, 2022 for new members. The increased pricing goes into effect March 25, 2022. If you’re one among the millions of Americans with Prime, you can prevent the price hike today.

Existing Prime members may give themselves a year of Prime for $119. (Note that your membership fee will be taxed.) Keep the e-mail/gifted membership in your inbox until your existing subscription expires.

Log into your Amazon account the day before your membership ends to cancel it. (Amazon will not automatically renew your Prime membership at the increased price.) Then you may manually redeem your “gifted” Prime membership. When purchasing a “gifted” subscription, use your existing Prime email address. This should maintain your Amazon Prime settings and purchase history.

It’s a simple approach to extend the $119/year pricing. Your membership will automatically renew three days before it expires if it expires late in the year.

Alternatively, new Prime members may join up for a free 30-day trial by February 18 to lock in the $119/year cost.

Amazon cites the “continuing growth of Prime member perks as well as rising salaries and shipping expenses” as reasons for boosting fees. Maybe it’s to help pay for Prime Video’s enormous Lord of the Rings programme. Amazon may be purchasing Peloton, according to reports.
