The iPhone 14, Apple’s undisclosed iPhone generation, is slated to be introduced this autumn, according to 9to5Mac.

It seems Apple may forego the notch this year in favour of a “pill and hole” arrangement for Face ID and the front camera. The new “pill and hole” design is substantially larger than prior models, according to Jon Prosser’s video.

A Weibo user believes the picture above shows a more thorough schematic of the iPhone 14 Pro or iPhone 14 Pro Max. The tweet was also shared on Saturday by Jon Prosser, who claims to have “independently verified” that the schematic is authentic and properly portrays Apple’s design.

“Taking the components of the notch and placing them directly in the display, reducing any waste regions that don’t contain the cameras or sensors,” Apple Track observes. While the adjustment will undoubtedly be unpopular, it should be less invasive than the notch.

Many hoped Apple would go with an under-display Face ID and camera system, but Apple hasn’t worked out how to do so without compromising accuracy or quality.

The iPhone 14 and a new Apple Watch are scheduled to be introduced in September. Reportedly, the new Face ID and camera system design will be exclusive to the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max, with the ordinary iPhone not getting an update until next year. source
