The concept has been shaken up a few times by fan-made offshoot games, which have included new gimmicks and elements. There’s also a variant in which participants must avoid guessing the right word. The throne of the original game has yet to be usurped.
For those of us who have always wanted to be quizmasters rather than participants, Adverswordle is the answer.
Adverswordle’s premise is simple: instead of attempting to come up with a five-letter word in a restricted number of rounds like you would in Wordle, you set the word for an AI and watch it work hard for you.
Simplest way to train the AI is to come up with a five-letter term, then start the game. Click until the letter becomes green if it’s in the proper spot. Make it yellow if it’s correct but in the incorrect location. You can watch the AI’s brain at work as a thinking bubble emerges with words that may still be the answer.
It’s a slap in the face to all of the time I’ve wasted looking at the computer while trying to figure out Wordle’s answers after marking them as correct.
Since you’re trying to prolong the inevitable as long as possible, there’s no limit to how many times your AI opponent in Adverswordle can guess the word thanks to its encyclopaedic knowledge of the whole dictionary. In contrast, if you attempt to trick the system by creating new phrases or confusing your green and yellow marking system, you’ll lose immediately.
Though “AUDIO” was my initial word go-to, the bot got it after just four plays nevertheless. Adverswordle’s author claimed a personal best of 12 on Reddit, so you have something to shoot for. For those who want to play Adverswordle more than one time per day, an incognito window is a simple way to get around the limitation.

An artificial intelligence flaw has also been cited by the game’s author. One reader remarked that the AI seemed baffled by the term “Steak,” which supports this.
